VII. RELATED TRAINING

    1. Related training classes shall be held at a time determined by the committee and School representatives.
    2. Apprentices are required to attend 144 hours of related training per year. Failure to register and pay tuition before the start of the second class in the term will result in the apprentice’s removal from the class. All related training hours are to be recorded on Monthly Progress Report’s and shall be signed the instructor(s) monthly.
    3. All apprentices are required to attend 72 Hours per term. The only exception is if an apprentice has a Pre-approved "out-of-town" form On-File. Even with this exception, an apprentice still must attend at least 58 Hours. Failure to complete these related training requirements shall result in loss of consideration for Re-Rate!
    4. ABSENSES: The Area III JATC provides adequate extra classes to allow for illness, family emergencies and pre-scheduled "Time-off" These extra classes are programmed into each term and may be utilized by every apprentice at the discretion of his or her instructor. These extra classes are not intended to be a substitute for lack of planning. Absences will be marked on the attendance roster as excused or unexcused at the discretion of the instructor and all coursework and test must be made up. Any apprentice who accumulates 2 or more unexcused absences in one term will be cited to the committee for possible disciplinary Action.
    5. Related training instructors shall be approved by the committee and shall teach the course in keeping with the guidelines of the curriculum approved by the committee.
    6. Apprentices registered into this apprenticeship program later than September 30, each year, will not commence the related training classes until the beginning of the next school year.
    7. Apprentices not receiving a passing grade of "C" or better for related training classes will be required to retake the classes failed before advancing in the apprenticeship program. Repeated failure of related training classes will result in committee action up to, and including, termination from apprenticeship program.
    8. The committee realizes that the completion of 8,000 hours of on-the-job-training Is ideal, but recognizes that most apprentices will not be able to fulfill the total amount of hours specified in each and every work process as set forth in the standards.

* NOTE: All apprentices must obtain work experience for at least 50% of the hours listed in each work process in the committees approved standards. In the event that a committee cannot provide an apprentice with work experiences equaling at least 50% of the hours listed for each work process set forth in the standards. The committee must include a written statement in the apprentice’s file indicating that the apprentice has had adequate related training to compensate for the lack of on-the-job-training.
