VII. RELATED TRAINING
- Related training classes shall be held at a time determined by the
committee and School representatives.
- Apprentices are required to attend 144 hours of related training per
year. Failure to register and pay tuition before the start of the second
class in the term will result in the apprentices removal from the
class. All related training hours are to be recorded on Monthly Progress
Reports and shall be signed the instructor(s) monthly.
- All apprentices are required to attend 72 Hours per term. The only
exception is if an apprentice has a Pre-approved "out-of-town"
form On-File. Even with this exception, an apprentice still must attend at
least 58 Hours. Failure to complete these related training requirements
shall result in loss of consideration for Re-Rate!
- ABSENSES: The Area III JATC provides adequate extra classes to allow for
illness, family emergencies and pre-scheduled "Time-off" These
extra classes are programmed into each term and may be utilized by every
apprentice at the discretion of his or her instructor. These extra classes
are not intended to be a substitute for lack of planning. Absences will be
marked on the attendance roster as excused or unexcused at the discretion of
the instructor and all coursework and test must be made up. Any apprentice
who accumulates 2 or more unexcused absences in one term will be cited to
the committee for possible disciplinary Action.
- Related training instructors shall be approved by the committee and
shall teach the course in keeping with the guidelines of the curriculum
approved by the committee.
- Apprentices registered into this apprenticeship program later than
September 30, each year, will not commence the related training classes
until the beginning of the next school year.
- Apprentices not receiving a passing grade of "C" or better for
related training classes will be required to retake the classes failed
before advancing in the apprenticeship program. Repeated failure of
related training classes will result in committee action up to, and
including, termination from apprenticeship program.
- The committee realizes that the completion of 8,000 hours of
on-the-job-training Is ideal, but recognizes that most apprentices will
not be able to fulfill the total amount of hours specified in each and
every work process as set forth in the standards.
* NOTE: All apprentices must obtain work experience for at least 50% of the
hours listed in each work process in the committees approved standards. In the
event that a committee cannot provide an apprentice with work experiences
equaling at least 50% of the hours listed for each work process set forth in the
standards. The committee must include a written statement in the apprentices
file indicating that the apprentice has had adequate related training to
compensate for the lack of on-the-job-training.
