XIII. RECOMMENDATION TO TAKE THE STATE JOURNEYMAN EXAM
- State Journeyman test recommendations will not be made until the
apprentice has attained a passing grade in related training classes and
has completed the needed hours in the fields of training.
- Apprentices may only take the Journeyman examination upon the referral
of the Committee.
- After being recommended to take the Journeyman exam, the apprentice has
six months to take the exam. If the apprentice has not taken the exam
within the six-month period, he/she will be cited to appear before the
committee to explain the circumstances for the delay.
- After the six month period, if the apprentice has failed (the Journeyman
exam twice) the apprentice will be required to take a code class before
the next try. If an apprentice fails on his third try, he/she will be
required to retake, and pass, the 4th year classes or courses, as
recommended by the Committee with a 70% or better grade before being
re-recommended to take the Journeyman exam. If an apprentice fails a
fourth time, the committee will issue a certificate of completion,
removing him/her from the apprenticeship program. He/she may still apply
with the State of Oregon to re-take the exam, but will no longer be able
to work in the trade until passing the exam and receiving his/her
Journeyman license.
