General Responsibility of Training Agents

IX. GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES OF TRAINING AGENTS

  1. Training agents will be furnished with a package of information including a copy of the approved standards for the inside Electrical Apprenticeship and the committees’ policy handbook A Training Agent must comply with its’ provisions. After signing the required forms and providing copies of the required documentation, this package will be placed in the Training Agents file.
  2. Employers requesting approval as qualified training agents must be Oregon licensed electrical contractors who appear before this committee and submit the following completed forms:
    1. Request for approval as an Agent
    2. Certification of Contractor and Employed Supervisor Electrician licenses and other required documentation.

    *NOTE: LICENSED ELECTRICAL CONTRACTORS MUST HAVE BEEN IN BUSINESS UNDER THEIR PRESENT BUSINESS NAME AT LEAST ONE (1) YEAR PRIOR TO APPLYING FOR APPROVAL AS A TRAINING AGENT IN THIS PROGRAM.

  3. Approved Training Agents will assure that their apprentices are directly supervised on the job by a Journeyman electrician and will not place apprentices In work situations that cause the apprentice to miss a scheduled related training class.
  4. Employers requesting the registration of an apprentice must bring the employee before the committee and submit appropriate documents to verify that the employee meets all the minimum qualifications as outlined in the apprenticeship standards for Inside Electricians.
  5. Approved employers will make sure that their apprentices are directly supervised on the job by a licensed journeyman electrician or a licensed supervising electrician in accordance with the ratio standards of the Lane County JATC.
