General Responsibilities of  Apprentice

I. GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES OF APPRENTICE

  1. All apprentices will be indentured to this committee.
  2. Apprentices will submit properly completed and signed "Monthly Progress Reports" (MRP’s) each month to area III (Lane County) JATC Coordinator listed below:

    Progress reports must be signed by the employer or employer’s representative and Related training instructor and be submitted by the 10th of the Month following the reporting month

    (Example: May hours must be received by June 10.)

    Failure to turn in MPR’s in a timely manner will result in the following disciplinary action:

    1. Any delinquency may result in a delay of rerate.
    2. Any apprentice missing MPR’s at rerate shall be held to next rerate.
    3. Any apprentice missing two or more MPR’s shall be held to next re-rate and sent a notice of Citation to appear for Proposed Cancellation.
  3. Apprentice must notify the coordinator/committee of any of the following changes:
    1. Out of work (Laid off / Fired / Injured).
    2. Change of employers.
    3. Change of address or telephone number.
    4. Inability to attend scheduled classes.

    *Apprentices shall be held responsible if the Committee cannot contact him/her due to wrong address and/or phone number in their file.

  4. Apprentice must:
    1. Work for an approved training agent.
    2. Diligently and faithfully perform the work assigned by their supervisor.
    3. Develop and practice safe work habits.
    4. Conduct yourself at all times as a representative of the apprenticeship program.
    5. Attend all scheduled related training.
    6. Advance in the program.
    7. Maintain your own-signed copies of MPR’s.
  5. Apprentices have the right to come before the committee at its regular meeting to discuss and ask questions concerning his/her apprenticeship. The committee currently meets on the third Thursday of every month at 7:00 P.M. The meetings are held at the Mid-Oregon IEC Office. In order to facilitate the timely conduct of the meetings and to allow all persons having business with the committee the opportunity to be heard. An Apprentice Action Request must be submitted a minimum of 5 working days prior to the meeting, requesting to be included on the agenda and stating the nature of your request.
  6. Note 1: Area III JATC Meetings are conducted under a "closed door" policy. This is to insure the privacy of any disciplinary matters regarding individual apprentices or Training Agents.

    Note 2: Area III JATC affords the opportunity to each class to have a class representative present at the committee meetings. This representative is one avenue to facilitate complaints directed to the committee and to provide information on committee actions to other apprentices in the class. The representative will be provided a copy of both the agenda and the minutes for each JATC meeting.

  7. Other Licenses.- Apprentices holding any other Electrical licenses must surrender those other licenses to be held in the Apprenticeship file by the JATC.
  8. Any Apprentice who is canceled or placed on administrative leave of absence will be required to immediately surrender his or her State of Oregon Apprenticeship Card. The coordinator will also notify the local, State of Oregon Apprenticeship representative
