III. CREDIT
FOR PREVIOUS EXPERIENCE
An apprentice may be granted credit for documented, legally obtained
experience. Apprentices requesting credit for previous experience must
notify the coordinator in writing stating his/her request and appear in
person before the committee. Approval of the upgrading will be
determined by the following:
- Documentation or experience may include oral or written examination
at the discretion of the committee. A letter from an available former
employer, on company letterhead, bearing the owner/owners agents
signature. This letter must document the amount of legal time worked
for that employer, and detail the type of work done, and the amount of
time spent in each area.
- Transcripts and military records where applicable.
- Experience granted for previous related training must be documented
thoroughly by employer and/or school transcripts. The amount of
related training granted is at the discretion of the Committee.
- A letter from the current employer stating that the employer is
aware of, and concurs with, the apprentices request. The employer
may be invited to the committee meeting to verify qualifications for
advancement.
- The maximum credit permitted will be at the discretion of the
committee. All apprentices will start in the first period. After
completion of the first period, the committee will review previous
experience one time only.
- The maximum allowed advancement for previous experience would place
the apprentice at the beginning of the fifth period.
Credit for previous experience will not be granted after the second
consecutive period of participation in the program.
