IV. APPRENTICE CONDUCT AND DISCIPLINE
- Apprentices are expected to conduct themselves at all times as a
representative of the apprenticeship program.
- Apprentices need to remain aware that the first 2000 hours of
Apprenticeship are considered probationary. During this period the
apprentice may be canceled with or without cause at any time, upon
written notice to the Bureau of Labor and Industries.
- An apprentice cited for cause shall be informed by registered mail
no later than 22 days prior to the meeting, failure to comply with a
citation to appear will be grounds for proposed cancellation.
- Any Instructor, Journeyman, Employer, or Apprentice may bring any
apprenticeship issue to the committee, by either letter or personal
appearance. As stated earlier, this letter must be received no later
than 5 working days prior to the scheduled meeting.
- Apprentices who violate any instructor rule governing class conduct
or the JATCs zero tolerance drug, alcohol, and tobacco policy (see
appendix A), shall be expelled from class immediately, and cited to
appear before the committee at its next regularly scheduled meeting
for corrective action as determined by the committee.
- Any apprentice working outside the trade for a lengthy period shall report to
the committee and request an administrative leave of absence. If an apprentice
works outside the trade and does not request leave, he or she will be cited to
the JATC and given 60 days in which to find employment within the trade or proof
of effort, or risk cancellation.
